The community of Beaufort, South Carolina, is located on Port Royal Island and is one of the larger Sea Islands along the Atlantic Coast. Established in 1711, Beaufort is the second oldest city behind Charleston in South Carolina. Beaufort was voted as the "Best Small Southern Town" by Southern Living magazine, was named a "Top 25 Small City Arts Destination" by American Style, and a "Top 50 Adventure Town" by National Geographic Adventure. The atmosphere in this lovely community is that of a gentler time filled with Southern charm. Surrounded by water, Beaufort residents enjoy the white sand beaches, expansive salt marshes, tidal rivers, and majestic maritime forests. Beaufort is part of the Treasured Coast, where a respect for and appreciation of nature is evident and outdoor activities are plentiful. All of the city parks in Beaufort, including the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park downtown, offer exceptional views of the neighboring islands, rivers, historic homes, and activities on the Intracoastal Waterway.

Children attend the Beaufort County School District, one of the fastest-growing public school systems in South Carolina. For higher education, residents may attend the University of South Carolina-Beaufort, Technical College of the Lowcountry, and Webster University at the US Naval Hospital, which offers degree programs and continuing education classes.

Beaufort Real Estate Stats and Trends for the week of August 16th, 2018: homes priced around $256,493 compared to $323,217 the previous week, showing a decrease of less than -26%.  For Thursday, August 16th, the current national mortgage rate for a 30 year fixed mortgage is 4.75%; the 15 year fixed rate is at 4.25%. For a loan larger than conventional conforming loans, or 'jumbo' loan, the 30 year rate is 4.63%, while the 15 year jumbo rate currently is at 4.38%.
